The McNary Brothers Company and Ward Printing announce closure and discontinuation of The Jasper News-Gazette

Jasper, Mo. – The McNary Brothers Company, parent of The Maple Grove-Dudenville Gazette and The Jasper County News (est. 1898), has announced it no longer plans to resume publication of its suspended newspaper in the Jasper, Mo. market, which has operated under the name The Jasper News-Gazette since 1999.

Ownership of the trademarks of The Jasper County News will revert to Ward Printing of Jasper, which prior to 1981 was the printing operation of The News. The name “The Maple Grove-Dudenville Gazette” will remain the property of McNary Brothers, but its publication also will not be resumed. McNary Brothers has announced plans to reorganize and relocate its headquarters to Northwest Missouri. The only operations to remain in Southwest Missouri are those of Dudenville Ventures.

“Due to changes in the current business climate in the Jasper, Missouri area, and the growth of our operations in Northwest Missouri, we cannot justify reentry to the Jasper County advertising market at this time,” said James McNary, General Partner.

“We appreciate those who have supported us over the years, and regret that conditions cannot allow us continue these operations.”

The McNary Brothers Company, Dudenville, Mo., is owned and operated by James and Joseph McNary as two sole-proprietorships run in tandem. The name “The McNary Brothers Company” is used to refer to the total operations of the Dudenville Ventures Co., The Maple Grove & Dudenville Gazette Co., and McNary Bros. Contract Services Operations. The holdings of The Gazette Co. include the trademarks “The Maple Grove & Dudenville Gazette,” “The Jasper County News” (Est. 1898), and “The Jasper News-Gazette,” as well as the former McNary Printing Service.

McNary Mowing Co. and McNary Land & Cattle Co. refer to disaffiliated operations now owned by John McNary, Golden City, Mo. The name Hi-Mark Produce Co. refers to discontinued operations now owned by McNary Farms – Dudenville.

The McNary Brothers Company is affiliated with McNary Consulting Services of Cameron, Mo., McNary Electric of Dudenville, and McNary Farms (Dudenville and Mirabile, Mo.).
